Default shift **** exchange

sup everyone....well as some of you know i just recently did a complete interior swap of my lexus. I really like the new interior and i'm happy i got the old interior out of the way. There is one thing that i have been thinking about. As you know i have a 1994 lexus es 300. The shift ***** on the Es's are kinda of "fat" and ugly. I was just wondering if it is possible to fit a shift **** from the 98'-02 GS 300/400 on my car. Or are there any look alike shift ***** that can fit my ES. If there is a website plz tell me thanks.

you're overdrive button could be a problem.
also, if you were to change the shifter, i think you're going to have to change the trim plate.
..way too much work that i don't think will make such an impact to be worth it.

BTW...those pics still have the tan leather.
any high quality pics like that of your swap?

The 1st gen ES uses a shifter with an overdrive button, and a shift lock release button. The 2nd gen GS uses a gated shifter without a button. The ES is a one-piece unit, whereas on the gated shifter, the **** screws onto the metal rod.

you might try PMing CL member NVICTIS. He had posted some pictures of his 95 ES. One of the pictures was of a pretty cool aftermarket shift **** replacement. There was discussion in the following thread:

You might be able to see if the distributor of this **** has other styles, too.

hope this helps.

oh yeah.....you could trade up to a 2002 or 2003 ES. The shifter is gated, smaller and looks just like the one in your GS picture.
