I'm about to buy a 1996 Lexus ES300. This would be my first car. My question here is:

*Is this car reliable?
*Some common problems with them?
*Any other opinions or info.

The ca is closing in on 18 years, there's bound to be something wrong with it. In general check suspension and if the belt/water pump has been changed. Look or leaks but if its this old and it's minor, I would just leave it as watch it. For the Es in general look for speedometer lights being out, hazy headlights, sagging front bumper, and again suspension. They are pretty solid cars but again keep in kind the age of the car. Thing is every car is different with different owners so I've seen people with 10 year old cars in much much better shape then some people with a 5 year old car. Look for service records as well.
