Can anyone give me a " How-to" on how to install aftermarket superwhites into a 97 ES300???? Please give a brother a hand?

 

It's not that hard. Look in your Lexus owners manual. All you are doing is replacing a headlight bulb. There's no rocket science to that.

Can anyone tell me how to install new headlamps? the owners manual does not tell you how to do that.

 

Standing in front of you hood to your left you may notice that the area is more confined behind the light at least for my older style ES, you might want to actually unbolt this light, unbolt all the bolts and then give your light a tug towards you it will pop out of place. Turn and take out your 9006 and pop in the new one, remember to place you light back into its slot and bolt it down. Don’t pull it totally away from he car because you are still connected buy the wiring harnesses, be gentle. As for the right side you should be able to squeeze in and do the swap, be careful not to get grease are you skin oils on the lamp, it will melt apart and explode trust me, grad your dish washing glove to do the swap. If you stare at you car long enough you will figure out how to do anything. I agree with flip side, no masters degree is necessary for this mod so don’t go taking it to the dealer for this, roll up your sleeves and hand business, be sure to post before and after pics. I bought some superwhites made by Nokya, and they look great except they burnt up my harness! Since my harness fried I had to cut it off and I crimped on some female plugs that slide right on the bulb connection. These burn up too, and i have to replace them every couple weeks. Honestly id stay away from superwhite bulbs unless they are PIAA. Im saving up for the real thing(HID conversion kit).

 

what about Sylvania?

 

Anything you buy from the major automotive companies (Philips, Sylvania) should be okay. It's those cheap, made in Korea superwhite bulbs that are frying people's harnesses.

My friends like PIAA superwhite bulbs because they give the appearance of being brighter due to the whiter light color.
But every automotive expert I've talked to has labelled PIAA bulbs as overpriced junk.

They are junk if you think so, but they are the only ones that I know of that are brighter then the blue bulbs last for ever, give you that super white look and some how draw the same current as stock. You can get a set online from many sites for 60$ thats cheaper then the price of all the blue bulbs I tried and burnt out. LOL. Plus they are fully street leagal.

 

For all the info you'd ever want to know about aftermarket bulbs, search the newsgroups (through Google). If you include "Daniel Stern" as keywords in your search, you'll get a lot of good advice from a guy who knows his stuff.
