HID Help
I finally got some money so i can buy a HID kit for my car. I have a 1997 Lexus ES300. Only problem is I have no idea where to start. Like i dont know what like H1/H3/H4 etc means and what temperature is good. I'd really appreciate some help with this and also a good place to buy them
The Lexus Lighting Forum on this very site is a great place to start. I suggest reading all the sticky'ed posts first for a general overview. Found here:

First of all, Dont look at an H7 kit, unless you plan to swap out your lights for Platinum Series headlights. Because your beam pattern would look F'd up. Look at an HID projector to retrofit into your headlight. Depending on what the projector takes (lets say TSX projectors) that would be D2S. Or ask LXMN for details on his TSX retrofit.
Oh yea H1, H4, H7 etc. are bulb sizes, and as the color goes up, it doesn't mean the colors gets more blue (because it's not true for 12000k). 3000k is yellow. 4300K is white with a little yellow. 6000k is super white. 8000k is blue. 10000K is deep blue-purple. 12000K is violet-pink.

IMO, 6000K is the best compromise between light output and color.
Installing the kit is fairly easy.

I wouldn't go with the pnp kit I've heard way to many people complain about how terrable the light patern is on top of being illegal. If you insist tho there is no moddifcation needed its simply pnp. Now if you want real hid go with a projector retro for your low beams. My suggestion is to go with a tsx retrofit like LXMN has or if you want to be brave and beat me to it try a bixenon TL projector
hey i got a second gen with the stock projector headlights
i can put a hid kit in there with plug an play right? i keep seeing people with retro fit i dont get it? can i just buy a kit for my 95 es and plug n play or HAVE to do a retro fit?

I would do more research and get familiar with completing a HID Retrofit, especially for a non-projector headlight or.. buy a 00-01 es with oem HID. You just will never be happy with the output and beam pattern.
i have a 92 and put the plug and play in,and i'm satisfied with the output
