One Knock Sensor is mounted on each side of the engine block.

What codes did you have?

If it was 55. That is the bank 1 sensor. Bank 1 is the side closest to the firewall.

Nice reply You might as well replace both sensors while you have the intake off anyway instead of having to do it twice.

does anyone know if there might be a problem with the jdm aspect of my engine... like maybe different knock sensor?... i really just hate to take it all apart and replace 2 small sensors for like 250 bucks... this really sucks.........maybe if i take out the fuse and "reset" it???... any clues on which fuse???? worth a try!

There is obviously a problem with the sensor, wiring, or ecu. You need to properly diagnose it by using the above steps to find out the problem.

If it were knock sensor porblem, reset is useless. I reset it several times but it still went on. After ignored the light for a long time, finally I replace the sensors, no more check engine light goes on and my 93 Es runs better than before. It's cheap in Taiwan, I just spent 170 for both sensors, labor included.
