hey whats up guys, i just cleaned the dual throttle bodies on my 00 es300, it didnt start at first crank which is normal, then kinda misfired for a few seconds, then was perfectly fine, all this does is clean the throttle body and the passages thru the intake manifold, i think it helped the car a little bit, it seems to react a bit quicker then it used to, all i did was open up the air boots and spray some throttle body cleaner and scrub it with a toothbrush then dry it out with a shop rag, just lettin u guys know in case some of u may have tried this or want to in the future, have any of u done this? if so, what was ur result?

 

I had the throttle body cleaned the last time my car was in the shop. It made a substantial difference. It had been pretty sluggish when cold and was lagging on acceleration. All better now.

 

Yes I cleaned mine back at 70K or so. It was well overdue, throttle responsive was much better and acceleration was not any quicker; but MUCH smoother. I also took out the IAC unit and cleaned it (it was very crusty). I recommend all ES owners to routinely do this. The idle quality is top notch and you will be happy and your baby Lex will be happy too

 

Will this cause any problems for the vehicle, or cause any sensors light up , etc?

 

as long as u dont try to start the car when the air boots are off it should be ok, clean it out real nice, dry all u can out with a rag, and put ur air boots back on. on the first start it might have trouble starting and may stall, this is normal and happened to me, just give it some gas and itll go away. Thats what happened to me

 

what kinda cleaner did you use?

 

There is some at any store, cnc or cmc throttle plate cleaner, they also make some just for the MAF. I clean mine at oil changes since I run a short ram intake.

 

The IAC thats just below the TB, with the 2 screws? Any caution on taking it out and putting it back in?

 

Yea try not to damage the gasket or use a new one. There are 2 screws, a couple of vacuum lines, and the coolant by-pass hose. The car will run like **** the first ten seconds or so but it will clear out on its own; you dont need to rev it.
