Default door lock problem

im gonna try and explain it as best as i can w/o confusing you guys.

(i have a 98 es300 ~94k miles) whenever i usually drive i drive with the doors locked. now when i unlock the doors to let passengers out (primarily in the front) the door locks will repeatedly click and unlock, even all the doors are already unlocked. ( it drives me crazy )

have you guys experience anything like this? any help would greatly be appreciated!

thanks

Yes, mine did the same thing. You have a lock that is going out. It is not locking or unlocking all the way. Once you find out which one it is just buy a replacement lock off ebay and change it out. Or get a mechanic to do it for you. I have done two so far on my 93 ES.

Or if you dont want to mess with it you can just take the door panel off and unplug that lock. You will just have to lock it manually till you get it fixed. Makes it less annoying till you do.

how hard is it to change out a lock? is there a specific name to the part that i need to replace? or is it just called a door lock mechanism?

It is called a door lock actuator. It is kinda tricky but not too bad. You have to remove the door lock disconnecting it from the outside and inside door handles. For the front door I had to remove the window as it was too tight with it in there. It was easier on the back door.

Sorry didnt notice your link. Yeah that picture is of the part I used but for a 93. That whole piece comes out through the inside of the door.
