Cool Top Speed?

Just wondered if anyone has done a top speed run intheir es300. I was able to hit 140mph with about 1800rpm to go in my 92 es300 5-speed. It sounded like it was a friggin jet engine at that speed -- not sure if it was my "mcelligott" intake or my windows about to fly off. I'll have video of my true (hopefully 155mph) top speed run in the upcoming weeks.

I topped out at 142 mph in my 96 ES automatic, and that was on 18" rims with 215/35/18 tires, which may or may not have affected the true speed. As for the noise you encountered, it sounded and felt like I was only doing about 55 mph in mine at that speed, but my engine is completely stock.

I was estimating the 142mph referencing the incrimates on the rest of the guage. The needle exceeded the 140mph mark by what appeared to be 2mph in comparison to the incrimates on the guage prior to 140. As for your 96 topping out at 133, don't know what to tell ya.

Because I have the jap import mine is restricted to 112 mph... I would like to have it de-restricted and see what the top speed is. Luckily my speedometer goes up to 200 as it was originally in kilometers and was calibrated to MPH. so it would be interesting to see what the top speed is.

Cruising at 110 is a dream and hardly noticible but I dont fancy losing my licence as there is an instant Ban over 100 MPH here in the UK.

Can you imagine the frustration of not being able to drive your motor for 12 months :O(

Well, since I was only at about 5,000 rpm when i hit 140mph, i figure when i hit 6,500 rpm i can be at about 150-55mph. I'll have the max speed run on tape when we do it. I'm going to have 2 300zxTT's running beside me to tell me how fast i'm going when i pass 140mph.

i read up somewhere that the es does 152 mph.. but thats a new motor.. then i hear others saying 148MPH

I would love to see the tape if you can get it converted to go on the net... let us know...

just make sure your licence plate isnt on the tape

When i get mine de-restricted I would like to take my ES on germanys AutoBahn as there is no speed limits and it is only a hop across the ocean under the tunnel from the UK

Do you have any mods? Is yours a manual? The new '02 ES with the 5-speed auto is track-tested up to 130MPH, so I don't see how an older ES could go 150+...How high does the speedometer go on your car? Mine goes to 150MPH, but I'm not sure where it tops out. I guess I've always been too afraid to find out.

My speedo goes up to 140mph, and the only mods i have are: racing clutch, open air intake, and a badass suspension (great for the twisties). I don't have that many mods, but i really think i can pull it off.

Intake illustration -- rip out your airbox, and support the tubing that extends from your throttle body -- affix screening to the flap at the end of the tubing, and enjoy! You'll still have the quiet sound of the lexus until you give it a good amount of throttle. I'll have a pic or 2 up tomorrow.
