Default 1st Gen armrest inserts

Does anyone know if you have to remove the door panels to replace the plastic armrest switch housings?
Both of mine cracked over the winter.
95 ES
Thanks!

No. Definitely not. They pop up, held in place by clips. Just wrap some tape around a thin flat head driver and pry it up gently starting from the front.

This ofcourse applies to prying up the 'wooden' insert as a whole, not the individual switch levers.

Yes you do. There are 2 phillips head screws at each end of the insert from inside the panel. Then of course you have the screw you can find by popping up the plastic piece in the hole. If you are wondering why, the screw that you probably have already found helps keep the entire panel held onto the door itself. While the other two hold the insert to the door panel.

Thanks - I had a feeling that was the case.

I'd like to try and replace these myself if it is not too difficult. Hence, my next question is how do I take the door apart to get to these screws ?
