It’s the navigation stereo from and 05 ES330. The one with the screen. I believe the solution is the camera or wire itself because the car is switching screens when put in reverse but it’s a black screen, so clearly it’s a camera issue.
I found the wire reverse signal wire that I tapped into.
if anyone ever needs to know which wire is the reverse trigger wire let me know and I will circle it on a photo because there’s one right near it that’s the exact same color and you do not want to tap into that one.

Here’s the adapter plugged into the correct spot.
I won’t hook up that extra red signal wire on the yellow cable because that is used for signaling the head unit that the car is in reverse, but for aftermarket head units. This stock one already has a reverse trigger port all the way at the bottom left of the rear of the stereo that I attached a wire to and then to the red/black wire coming off the harness of the ECM behind the glovebox

Got the stock nav unit to switch to backup screen when put in reverse, but still no image. I then tested the camera on my TV just to see the image and make sure it’s working, and nothing besides “check surroundings for safety” on the car screen and nothing on TV.
At this point I must assume I damaged the wire while running it across the car. I did tug on it pretty good when I needed more slack. That’s the only point where i remember any kind of damage could have taken place.
The best thing to do I guess is order another cord and test the camera on my tv before installation. Man, this has been one headache after another for something i don’t even need lol

I have seen a few guys on here with them installed and the image is actually not bad at all considering the age. I can’t give up because I have a reverse camera on the rear of the car. It will work or be removed.
I’m almost positive it’s a camera issue. My TV not showing an image kind of proved that. I bought another one just for the cord
What would be a good way to test the camera before installing? Hooking directly to the car battery?
