Default 98 ES300 Electrical Issue

Hey everyone. I have a 1998 Lexus ES300 that is having some electrical issues that I hope one of you brilliant individuals can provide some insight into. When I start the car, the engine runs just fine, but the entire dash is off, every light, the AC and stereo unit is completely off, brake lights and turn signals do also not work. Other things that do not work are the electronic door locks and the shifter. Essentially all electronics inside the cabin are completely off. I am guessing it is a blown fuse but I have no idea which fuse would cause the entire cabin to not function. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Just in case anyone is wondering, the alternator is running well and the battery is fresh, kept on a trickle charge when not in use (I rarely drive the car anymore), and the battery is also putting out the standard 12 volts.

Next to the battery pull the fuse box "Tetris" cover and l inspect the fuses especially higher current ones that have a transparent top.

Hi - We’re you ever able to figure out this problem? I have the same exact issue. I replaced the alternator fuse. Amp 120 or something. The shifter worked one time and then nothing. I know this is a few years later. But I’m not finding much on this particular issue 😫

Hello,

Can you describe your specific issue a bit better, is the car not Starting, or there is no Power to any of the Electrical Systems? If it is the latter, get a Test Light and check All the fuses in the car, here is a Fuse Diagram for a car linked in your Profile.

If everything appear to be working but the Starter doesn't spin, listen for a Click from the Engine Bay when the key is turned to the START position, if there is one, look for Mechanical issues, like Drained Battery, Damaged Wiring, or a Locked-Up engine, here is a link to an example. If there are no sounds coming from either the Relay or the Starter itself, check the Signal side, make sure that the Shifter is in Park and that the Instrument Cluster reflects it, then check the Starter Relay.

Hope this helps and best of luck!
