How to Make a Crankshaft Side Table
Here's how to make a side table out of a crankshaft from a car's engine! This crankshaft is out of a 1MZ-FE Lexus ES300 engine:
The base was a brake booster I cut up - but a brake rotor can work just as well. I got the flex plate, crank pulley and crankshaft from a Lexus ES300. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.clu...03de5a603f.jpg The pulley will be bolted to the booster. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.clu...2f56dbe47d.jpg Painting the base black: https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.clu...8c206135a0.jpg I painted the crankshaft bronze and then masked off the chrome bits around the bearings to paint the balance weights black: https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.clu...2c33e72ea6.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.clu...e722cea7cf.jpg All painted: https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.clu...301c90f75e.jpg Time to bolt in the pulley: https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.clu...3d9d89abec.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.clu...503c9e78af.jpg When stood upright, the crankshaft's weight makes it very stable: https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.clu...fcdd6dd72e.jpg I added some valves and springs to give clearance between the flex plate and some height and added a round glass: https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.clu...2393c574d3.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.clu...45e46e09b1.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.clu...9221bc298f.jpg Enjoy! |
