How to Make a 1MZ-FE Engine Coffee Table

I made a coffee table out of my 1MZ-FE engine from my 1999 Lexus ES300.

Here are a few pics from the process:

I removed the engine from the vehicle by dropping it with the sub-frame and transmission.

Lifted the engine onto a stand for disassembly.

Cleaning all the components with carb cleaner. It was only at this stage I found the VIN stamp for this engine referring to a 2005 Toyota Camry, it was swapped! The side engine mount holes, different timing belt tensioner, and date codes on the oil pump castings all make sense now.

Now engine degreaser.

I used chrome paint.

I used Rose Gold paint for a contrasting color.

I sprayed the inside of the head with Rose Gold to give it a nice contrast to the block and heads.

Parts drying...waiting to be assembled.

All done

I added a small glass top to complete the table.

The timing cover is optional. I prefer it without.

Enjoy!
