2vz-fe idles rough! Temp reads cold!

Hello, im having trouble getting my 1991 Lexus es250 running correctly. It has the 2vz-fe motor and when I bought it, we replaced the head gasket. Now when we go to start it the car idles rough and is blowing black ish smoke. The temp gauge is stuck at cold even after idling for a long time and a couple mile drive. I think what’s happening is the car is flooding itself with gas, thinking it’s cold. I have replaced the temp sensor and still nothing. Also I’m not losing any coolant so I know the head gasket replacement was a success! Pls help

Which sensor did you replace be specific there are two near the timing belt cover the 1-wire if for the gauge cluster the two wire for the engine computer. You sure there are not wires pinched and grounded causing one or more of the injectors to always be open? Even with a bad sensor the engine should not run that rich. Is the timing belt properly aligned? Camshaft timing correct in the heads?
