Grinding noise upon acceleration
I recently purchased a 2003 es300 with 200k miles.
So once I start the car for the first time after parking it, I accelerate for a few seconds, then I hear a grinding noise from the front of the car for a few seconds, and then a pop and the noise is gone. Doesn't do it again until the car is parked and driven again. Doesnt matter if the E-brake has been used or not.
Is this the parking pawl?

I can do that. I was just thinking it was a rather sepecific set of circumstances that the noise occurs under, so I thought someone might be familiar with it. It's not like I'm saying, "there's a squeaking noise when I drive it..."
I re-tested it. Wasn't loud enough to get it on video yet, but I can add that it happens whether or not the gas is pressed. I was coasting forward from a stop this time without any gas and it did it, quieter this time though.
Do you park outside? If yes, what you maybe hearing are the brakes as a slight film of oxidation forms on the rotors overnight. This is normal and not a problem.
