I have a 99 Lexus es300, I lost one set of keys (whoops) and now I am looking for a replacement. So, the 99 ES300 key has two pieces, the blade with transponder chip, and a remote to lock and unlock doors and trunk. I found a 2001 Lexus ES300 key that's just one piece like the blade and remote are one unit. (Please see attached photos). I am wondering, can I program the 01 key to unlock and lock and open my trunk on my 99 ES and cut the blade via an auto locksmith?

I would buy the original and keep the transponder numbers the same. HYQ1512 P The newer HYQ1512 ( V ) one may not work? You can try it and hope it works as long as the single piece remote has the buttons on the other side it might work? Either way the key has to be cut first B4 you know if it`s going to work or not? Worst case would be having to buy two new remotes and cut 2 laser keys to find out. If nobody knows for sure I would stay with the original fob numbers.
