Default tranny failure

after 6 years of service and 80K miles. tranny gave up as we just turned 200K
it tried to crawl to the mechanic but took its last breath 2 miles short. had to be towed
what to do now? let it go? engine, ac, interior is all good, new battery and tires, no accident.
anyone want to buy it for parts or put in a new tranny and go.
let me know if anyone is interested

My mechanic took the tranny down but the salvage yard that promised him the tranny could not deliver.
what are my options now?
Japan engine imports in Richardson told me they have used transmissions in stock. $699 plus tax.
Or should I take my transmission to a transmission shop and let them figure out what's wrong with it and give me an estimate?
any recommendations?

Get an estimate, because if you can rebuild it for same price with new parts might as well. Never know what you getting used and how it was taken care of.

If you like the car and it's in good shape then yea, that's what I would do. Make sure he changes the trans filter and yur good to go.

I would keep it going for $800; beats spending more on another car. good luck
