Makes bad squeaky noise only on start but not during run
My 02Es300 just started making very bad squeaky noise from front and it comes most when i start first time on a day. But after few mins of run it goes down and then during run after 15 mins it goes away completely. But then if i start car again later the noise is there. See if u can listen to this below youtube link and give me some pointers will appreciate a lot.

Check the power steering fluid before it's too late, and check for leaks as well.

WHILE THE PROB WAS FIXED BY ADDING THE STEERING WHEEL FLUID - IT SEEMS I HAVE A LEAK IN THAT WHICH IS CAUSING ALL FLUID TO DRAIN AS I HAD TO TOP IT OFF AGAIN YESTERDAY. i ALSO HAVE LEAK IN REGULAR OIL BUT THAT'S VERY MINOR - I'M DEBATING IF I SHOULD GET THIS FIXED OR JUST LET IT DIE? sUGGESTIONS? MrBooby i8 is fun to drive ... thanks

MrBooby & Senior moderators of this forum, How are you? Sir if you remember by ES300 stearing fluid leak problem - I had one mechanic look at it (came to house) and he found the issue not in the pump but in the crank and shaft mechanism which is at the bottom of car right near passenger side tire. He said we just need to replace seals and that should fix but it didn't. Do i need to replace whole unit? How do i approach now? With kids and travel job i usually just have mobile mechanic come home and fix cars which at times is hit or miss (mostly i get it done but this is unique).

I'm having trouble understanding the terms you are using. Squeaking due to the crankshaft seal? Can you post a video?

I would say get a second opinion to find the source of the leak. I know what you mean about being so busy you can't see a mechanic, that's part of the reason I like fixing my own car, no need for appointments. If you're losing fluid from the power steering, it could be the lines that carry the fluid, the pump, or the steering rack. All those have to be inspected. Most common issue is a power steering line leak.
