Variable Struts On Lexus 300
Replacement variable struts from Lexus parts store are louder and bumpier than struts originally on 2003 Lexus ES 300. Any idea why?
(At high speeds I can feel a lot of wheel vibration. Adjustment for sport or cruise is minimal to zero difference.) |
Who installed them? It is sometimes a little tricky to get the upper strut bolt torqued correctly, and very often it is left too loose. That is one simple and common explanation.

Thankyou so much for responding. I will have a different mechanic check that out for me. Also, is it necessary for me to get a tire alignment? The mechanic who installed the variable struts says it is not necessary but a lot of mechanics state it is vital to get an alignment. I would so appreciate it if you would continue to advise me. You must get a wheel alignment after strut replacements. It is impossible to bolt the strut back into exactly the same position the toe will change at best you'll get lucky and the alignment will be close. Source: a mechanic that has done 100's if not 1000's of wheel alignments.
