Default CEL and Trac Off won't go away at all. Cannot pass strict CA smog check.

Hello ClubLexus!

I need assistance and I have a smog check coming up soon, but I believe my 2000 ES300 with roughly 167k miles may not past the smog check.

My uncle and I took the ES300 to an Auto Center, and the mechanic retrieved P1135 and P1155 codes from the car. They replaced the O2 sensor(s), but despite that the codes won't go away at all, and the CEL and Trac Off pops back up sometime later. The mechanics spent hours on the car, but can't truly make the CEL/Trac Off go away. The shop owner suspects the catalytic converter may be going out.

*Edit: After confirming with my Uncle, the CEL and Trac Off appears to be out, and code P1135, P1155 appear to be out as well. Though it seems that the catalytic converter is clogged or is on its last knees.

Update: I have no idea what brand O2 sensors were installed, but from what I've been told, they were pulled out of a 2001 ES300 that recently passed a smog check without a problem. I've had 3 auto shop owners look at my ES300 and they tried to fix it, but it seems that the dreaded CEL/Trac off always come back on. They said that my car is unfixable and they stopped working on it.

The massive problem with my car is that the same codes come back no matter what, and they won't go away at all. After driving for 3 hours or so, the CEL and Trac Off will be right back on. Unfortunately for me, I think my only car will be forced to fail the smog check in CA and thus clunked, or sold to the mechanic for very little $. =/

First of all, there’s no such thing as an “unfixable” automobile and IMO the first sign that one should seek another mechanic.

Here’s a good read from clublexus.com on much the same problem... https://www.clublexus.com/forums/es-...ror-codes.html

Alright, nevermind the assistance, ClubLexus members.

The car has been through 3 different repair auto shops, checked out by many mechanics and the shop's owner, but the CEL/Trac Off and the code related to it is still unsolvable despite the attempted repairs, and whatnot. I think I'll just unfortunately fail the California smog check and clunk the ES300.

Don't lose hope yet,
I had just ran into this issue.
Something you can check are the grounds that go to the intake. There are two. One powers the oxygen sensors and the other for "injection".

Check for this as they gave me the same two codes.
The last few posts have pictures to what I'm talking about.
