Default oil level light

1995 es 300 the oil level light has been on for years. It has never used any oil between changes.
Does oil pressure have any thing to do with this light? Or is just a bad sensor?

They are related in that both rely on oil. But your sensor must be bad (or bad wiring) or the engine would have seized long ago.

Alternatively, you could in fact have a clogged pick up tube and really marginal, but non-fatal oil pressure. Sounds unlikely, but I in fact had this on a 90's VW Passat, back 20 years ago when I was inexperienced enough that I thought German engineering was good. The engineering is actually generally ok, sometimes, but the biggest issue is the parts quality is junky, no better than GM or Ford. Anyway....

Immediately replace the oil pressure sender, which I would guess you must have done years ago, because no one would drive with an oil light for years w/o trying to resolve it, right? Check the continuity in the harness, of course.

If that does NOT fix it, you need to drop the pan and inspect the contents and pick-up screen. You may really have low oil pressure, though it is less likely.
