98 ES300 ECM and P1780 wire tracing
Hi thre, I'm looking for ECM pinout and connector locations for 1998 Lexus ES300, the ECM is 89661-3T310, I have found bunch of ECM pinouts but none for this particular ECM, can someone please help? Thanks in advance.
Based on what I have, the E7 pin 14 is NSW, and E10 pin 2, 10 and 15 are for L, 2 and R respetively, I just need to locate these pins on the ECM connectors, the wiring I have shows 4 ECM connectors, named E7, 8 9 and 10, but my model ECM 89661-3t310 has 5 connectors on it, that's where I'm lost, and think I do not have the correct model version number for the car I'm working on. My theory is, either the wiring to the ECM or the ECM itself is faulty to have P1780 since I have identified a good working PNP switch. O/D is working fine, and backup lights work too when in Reverse.
Some background information on this, I have a persistent code P1780 which relates to the Park Neutral Position switch. However I have checked the switch itself, tested all its pins on continuity, and the immediate connector to it, all is fine. I know the next step is to check ECM NSW pin to ground voltage when shifting gears, my understanding is when in P or N, it should read 0 whereas in other gears it should be between 9 to 14 Volts. The car is running fine with only P1780 that I'm trying to get rid of, mileage is now at about 196k.

As the system won't allow me to post more in one message, here it goes with P1780,
Two or more switches are ON simultaneously for ”N”, ”2” and ”L” position. (2 trip detection logic)
Is there anything else I missed or overlooked? Thanks.

Google Toyota TIS. If you post your VIN we can look up what ECU should go with the car.

Here are your choices
89661-06590 W(TRACTION CONTROL)
89661-06601 CALIFORNIA SPEC
89661-06611 CALIFORNIA SPEC & W(TRACTION CONTROL
89661-33830 BRAZIL SPEC
89661-3T310
89661-3T320 W(TRACTION CONTROL), DENSO
89661-3T331 CALIFORNIA SPEC, DENSO
89661-3T341 CALIFORNIA SPEC & W(TRACTION CONTROL)
If are you not in California then that leaves:
89661-06590
89661-3T310
89661-3T320
Some of the part numbers change up take a look here to see the new numbers. It gets confusing I know.

Oh thanks, but I think I have gone through that exercise to identify my exact model number, " the ECM is 89661-3T310 " as I stated in the first message in this thread. What I'm looking for is the ECM connector pin out, the 98 repair manual has ECM llustrated with 4 connectors, E7, E8, E9 and E10, while mine has 5 connectors, so I cannot positively identify the pins for the corresponding PNP switch.
Do you have the pin-out for 89661-3T310? I wonder if my approach makes sense.
