Hi All,

This is my first post after being a long-time lurker and big fan of the community here. I've got a 2000 ES300 and I wanted to ask...
Is there anyway to change the standard "green" back lighting that illuminates the "AUTO" and "Door Lock" buttons?
I'm doing an LED overhaul throughout the car and would like to make them white to match the rest of the color scheme for the interior. Is it a bulb or even perhaps an LED soldered to a circuit board?

Cut the plastic nubs off and remove the circuit boards, replace the LEDs.

Thank you for the reply. If I understand you correctly, does that mean I need to solder new LEDs to the board?
And forgive me, but could you point out where in the picture the plastics nubs are (or would be)?

The black circular things on each end of the circuit boards you'll know when you dismantle the switch. Be careful there are a bunch of springs and contacts easy to lose. Yes you will need to remove the original LEDs, bend the legs of the new LEDs to match what's there then solder them in.

Ok good to know! Would you happen to know the type and quantity of LED's needed for the driver and passenger side window switch assemblies? I can't remember if the rears are illuminated as well, but if they are, could you include those in the quantity count too?

Like most the members here, I've used superbrightleds.com for all my LED's thus far. If you have a link to the type of LED's needed for this, that would help as well.

You need 3mm flat top LEDs. If you are in the U.S. (looks like) this is a good place for LEDs.

Awesome. Do you know how many in total will I need for all the window switch assemblies?

Should be 9. I buy them in 25, 50 or even 100 quantity considering how cheap they are. You'll need some solder wick, be careful removing the LEDs those boards are fragile the traces lift off easily. Don't buy bright LEDs just normal or the switches will be distracting at night.

How high of a lumen rating would you recommend? (I didn't see a spec for it in the ebay item link you posted)

Super Bright LED's has one with a 5 lumen. Would that be too much?

I don't know the exact specs of the LEDs I used, also it depends on the colour. For my one car I used orange the LED was about ~1000 mcd IIRC.
