Transmission problem
So I replaced my 2004 Lexus ES330 engine 2weeks ago, picked my car up from the shop drove it for 10 mins then boom it stops in mid traffic n doesn’t move, still running able to shift gears just wouldn’t move as I hit the gas. Gets it towed back to the shop they say it’s the transmission smh replaces that picks it up today drive it again for 10 mins then BOOM same exact thing happens except this time the red tranny fluid was all over the ground after it stopped!!!!! Can anybody pleasssse tell me what’s the matter cause I almost went to jail this time about I’m pissed an tired of spending money only to end up with the same problem. Not to mention almost dying both times.... PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!! |
There is no way for us to know what the issues are without seeing and driving the car. It does sound like the shop doing the work is not the best, to put it mildly. A common mistake is when the transmission is bolted to the engine the torque converter is not lined up correctly which crushes the transmission oil pump. But it could be many things.

Wow, that's just terrible man. The 2002-2005 transmissions are known for shifting funny but you hardly ever see anyone talking about the transmission actually breaking (unlike the older ES transmissions). I don't know what the issue is but I'm going to guess it's not your tranny. I'm sure someone here with more knowledge of these cars will be able to help you.

So I went back up to the shop after I calmed down, first let me say I forgot to say I replaced the drive shaft also smh (yes basically rebuilt my 04 ES330) but now he’s saying that the drive shaft is not staying in place because of some rust An is gonna need some welding,so basically I brought & replaced my transmission for no reason smh Ughhh I give up at this point. But I’m still hearing suggestions & possible information about this matter... Thank you all |

There is now way anyone can diagnose it w/o seeing it. L2K has explained one way the install can wreck the transmission. Almost w/o doubt, the tranny troubles are from misinstalling the transmission or mishandling it while out of the car. You need to run on that assumption. I would suggest the mechanic deliver you an operable car, or you take it elsewhere for diagnosis/repair and then go to small claims court if the most likely scenario plays out. |
Apparently there was a clip that holds drive shaft in place that was rushed & needed to be replaced that cost $5 meanwhile I brought a new tranny for no reason Smh... anyway it’s up & running. Thanks too everyone... |
