Finally - an oil filter that didn't leak down (Fram Ultra)

Like I said my engine only goes 7k miles max on synthetic, but maybe others are in better condition or something? But if you are paying more for synthetic and more for a better oil filter, you aren't saving much money, if any.
Where as if you look at a 2015 Toyota Corolla, it calls for synthetic and every 15k miles as the synthetic also says. (I think it was every 15k, my mom owns one) I doubt our cars would be happy with that lol.
It just makes more sense to me because not only is my oil black but I can feel and hear my car running like crap. Plus going every 3k you aren't taking the chance of over using a filter.

The engine hasn't changed, the 1MZ isn't suddenly going to stop contaminating the oil from blow by and the PCV system. Especially as the engine ages. And as pointed out the cost savings are so small it simply doesn't make sense to extent the OCI to such a degree.
I personally will not be risking my investment to try and save a few $$$ but if you feel comfortable then great.

Running an ACEA A3/B4 10w-30 full synthetic oil 7.5k is vastly better than running a Jiffy Lube 5w-30 3k miles. Arguing about absolute cost, or absolute miles of an oil change without regard to a discussion of base oil, usage style, climate, etc is not useful. There are multiple factors and blanket assertions of best practices just don’t work in this day of vastly higher tech oils, public knowledge, and scientific testing.

It isn’t about saving money. If the question keeps getting reduced to those terms, no wonder people keep ignoring the evidence. It is about embracing real technological advance that offers vastly more stable oil products and a significant increase in long term engine protection.

My response was to olderlex which brought up the money part. I know the original post was about an oil filter but things tend to get a little out of hand on these oil discussion threads.
