Take a closer look at the bulbs. I had this problem a few months ago on a buddy's 2000; the filament was not completely broken, so it still flashed but caused hyperflash.

The instrument panel is displaying the hyper flash not the bulb itself....tried a new bulb also. I cant imagine a relay is the culprit or can I?

Never seen that...all the bulbs should flash the same, the cluster plus the front plus the rear.

I believe I had this problem when I had to fix the wiring on one of my turn signal bulbs. There's 3 wires, make sure they are connected at the right terminals. Use the other signal as a reference.

if this isn't your problem then check the wiring to make sure you have no bad connections. This is my best guess

A friend suggested i check the socket. Sure enough the bulb was failing to make adequate contact. Cleaning the contact points resolved the issue.
