Hi everyone,

Glad to be here. I bought a es 300 1999 six months ago and recently noticed that the red security light next to the climate controls will blink constantly when the key is not in the ignition.
However sometimes when the key is removed the light will stay on and not blink.

Is this some type of warning indicator between the light being constant red light and flashing?

Can this security system be turned off?

I included a picture below as a reference. Thank you all for any information or advice you can share.

I think that's normal. My two do it, anyway ('99 and '01).

 

The light is off/ solid means the security system is not set. When it's blinking that means the security system is set.

If you read your owners manual you will find out a lot of little nifty things about your car.
