98 Lexus ES300 Burning Oil
As the title says my es300 is burning a lot of oil. I replaced the pcv valve because there was a lot of oil near that area and I assumed that the pcv valve wasn't functioning well so I went OEM and I checked the following day my car is still smoking on start up for about 20-45seconds and then it goes away and around the pcv valve there was oil again. What could the issue be? I don't really have money to get it checked out and wanted to get personal opinions on what to do.

Maybe try switching to a thicker high-mileage oil? Other than that, valve stem seals (will cause puff of blue smoke on takeoff or cold start), piston rings (can verify with wet compression test), or heavy sludge buildup (check under your valve cover/under your oil cap).

The only way to find out is a leak down test. No one will be able to tell you what the problem is....
Thicker oil is a bandage solution. It might cause other issues (i.e. thicker oil might not able to get to some engine parts).

UOA can! Consider using a product called AutoRX. This is more of a poor ring seal issue, common on today's engines. Switch to Amsoil Signature Series and you should see an improvement, run a STP filter and use Shell/BP/Exxon fuel. Also, keep air filters new every 10K miles
