Considering attempting to flip an ES
I have a lady who's a friend of mine that has a 2002 Lexus ES with 210,000 miles. I'm planning to have a look at the car myself.
As per her it runs excellently and reviewing it's CARFAX, I can see that the first owner up to 168,000 miles did all the service within a Lexus dealership and had the valve cover gasket and water pump replaced around 138,000 miles.
Only issue I can see is a broken headlight housing and dented bumper. Even the interior looks immaculate.
She's willing to sell it to me for $1,500.
Would this be a good purchase to try and flip for $3,000? Need opinions. Thanks! (Pictures Below)

In that condition, no.
But you could make a mint parting it out. However, if it were me, I would buy it, and drive it into the ground. Put a new set of headlamps in it from Amazon and go. Those are pretty well shot anyway, even before the wreck. Where I live they would never pass inspection like that.
So yeah, if it was me, I would reach behind the bumper, pop the dent out of the plastic, replace the headlights with a new set (aftermarket) and drive it. For $1500, I can think of a hole lot worse cars to drive, and 210k is nothing for a decently maintained ES. My 02 has 170k on it, and it feels like its just getting started.

Funny enough my girlfriend just mentioned that she wanted to give her 01 Corolla to her sister for college so I may just do that. Anyone else think this is a good buy?

I don't like 4ES's myself but that is an excellent buy...as Army mentioned just fix it up and you have a nice beater you got for peanuts. Who knows, you might find a pristine black fender and bumper cover one day scouring the Pick-n-pull and nobody will be able to tell the difference unless they look really closely.

I'm scheduled to see the car on Thursday and the situation just escalated.
My mom's 2003 Trailblazer just picked up a misfire. On top of that, it won't rev past 3,000 rpm without the misaligned fan scratching against the housing, needs new tires, the front bumper is trashed and, all of the plastic bits are falling out one by one.
I think I'm better off getting rid of the Chevy, giving my mom my girlfriend's 01 Corolla and getting her this Lexus after all. I'm done with American cars.

Lol I can't count the number of GM trucks I've had to deal with the misaligned fan. I used to have a '95 Roadmaster with the tow package (so main fan is clutched, aux. fax is electric) and the scraping when it was running made you think you were about to die in spectacular fashion. Ended up using a heat gun to shape the fan shroud to conform better. Only keep the Trailblazer if it's an SS.
My poor mother loves the thing and hates small cars but I think we're going to have to settle. I already have a Kia Cadenza and I refuse to finance any more cars.
