I greased the slide pins and the backs of the pads. I know what you're thinking: why drilled and slotted rotors on an 02 ES? Its not a performance car?
well, my total cost for the entire upgrade was $100ish on amazon, shipped.
Actually i run these same rotors on my Ram and have on many vehicles in the past, and while they do have slighly less surface area, they make up for this by gripping the pads better and staying markedly cooler under braking, thus improving braking by quite a bit. So, drilled/slotted rotors not good=myth
braking is markedly improved, both on my truck and in the Lexus. They have been on for over a week now an i am thoroughly impressed with the improvement from what was on there, but the brakes that were on the car were glazed pretty bad and were warped to the point you could barely hold onto the wheel under braking.
Yes sir, anytime. I love that they are made by our neighbors in the north. Better than China any day. Be sure if you go this route to bed the pads in properly. Make a series of 15-20 hard stops from 40-5mph followed by a 5 minute driving period to cool the brakes, followed by 5-10 moderate slows from 40-20, followed by 10 minutes of cooling. This will eliminate any scrubbing noise you get from the pads as it matches the surface of the pads with the surface of the rotors using heat and pressure.
Following this process, i havent ever had a warped set of rotors on a car after changing over to slotted/drilled. I have only ever bought them that way. The only rotors i have ever had warp on my are the flat ones (blanks).
