Default 2001 ES300-Battery Jumper Cables on wrong

Hi Everyone, I need your help. Today my wife took my car and calls me that its dead. I arrive and its just cranking, everything works though the radio, windows. I proceeded to give it a jump with my wifes mini van but put the cables on wrong, I know I'm dumb. My wife said she saw some smoke from the battery posts come up when I wen't to turn the key so then I figured the cables were on wrong. I proceed to jump it correctly and it turned on but would not engage drive to I had to manually put it into drive but then it turned off, jumped it again and I noticed the aforementioned things would not work. Went to get a new battery and it turned just fine but it still does not go into drive without manually unlocking it, still the aforementioned are not working. The only thing that turns on is the the dome light/interior light, the door noise when open, the car turns on, the emergency lights and mid lights but nothings else. I checked the small fuses and they all look fine. Anything I'm missing? is it an easy fix or did I screw up something major that its not letting me drive it normally without unlocking drive.

Appreciate any feedback.

I'd check all the fuses first (not just the small ones). Hopefully it didn't damage any sensitive electronics.

Yeah. You've blown a fuse, probably the 100 (yours could be higher) amp alternator fuse. This fuse is bolted in so you just can't pull it out. Here's what it looks like on a 2000 Camry but yours is probably similar. If you need directions on how to get it out let me know. I have a write-up somewhere, I'll try and find. Here's the link on how to replace it on a 2000 Camry but yours is probably similar http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/10...ible-link.html

note: the 100amp fuse has nuts which have to be removed from the sides to get it out.

If you are talking about the 100 amp main fuse see this link for pictures. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/es-...-on-wrong.html
