Default Weak washer pump, 2002 ES300

She mentioned today the fluid was low, which I immediately discounted because I check all fluids for her periodically. The spray pattern is weak and splatters some water just above the wipers when fully down. It worked fine last weekend when I last drove it.

I pulled the one nozzle and ran the pump, the output was fairly weak with it coming out like a weak garden hose, no "oomph" so to speak. I discount clogged nozzles for that reason (and it was both at the same time that suddenly went weak, she said). Is this indicative of a bad pump or is there another possible reason? Is the pump accessible or does a fender liner/wheel need to come off, etc?

I had this problem on my Camry the pump was weak so I replaced with a used one. Part of the fender liner has to be removed easy job.

Thank you. I have to ask since you said "used." I looked up the part at RockAuto and it's the same pump as I used in my Acura SLX (trooper) that has failed twice in three years. Are the aftermarket parts just that cr*&tastic and I need some factory/Japanese one, or what?

I am totally willing to go pull one at a yard or order OEM if I need to; I don't want to get in the same cycle as I am in with one of our other cars! (Whose pump I still need to fix after this one. For the 3rd time in 4 years...).

I had that side's wheel off and the back inner fender panel removed last week to re-install the PS belt. So I was there and could have saved some work if it failed a few days earlier!

I got one from an auto wreckers I don't trust aftermarket parts generally. Take a look here for compatible cars the same pump was used on the gen4 and gen5 Camry should be easy to find. The price from Toyota is fairly reasonable if you don't feel like trudging through a junk yard.

Thanks for that link.

I will find a Denso one somewhere as I don't want to repeat the failure I had with my truck. In fact I'll get two and put one in it, also.
