1999 Es300 -VVT solinoid issues

IM helping my friend fix his 1999 es300 has the v6 and has 180k on it ,it has p1346 and p1349 code ,I replaced both VVT solinoids He drove it for a day and then it started acting back up (no brakes,bad idle ,bad shifting) what else could it be and what can I check ? I have access to a snap on scanner
