Default 2002 ES300 Inner Tie Rod removal tool

My inner tie rod needed replacement so I bought a Moog EV420 Inner tie rod but I cannot "rent" a toll from Advanced Auto/Auto Zone, O Reilley etc. that fits the OEM Inner tie rod. The kits that you can loan out is a 4 piece kit but the adapters that go over the ball join is a tad short which means it does not fit the ball join slots. I can't be the first person with this issue. I have googled and searched on YouTube with no luck.

Has anyone replaced the inner tie rod that can offer help or advise? My at is on jack stands and need to get running tomorrow. Would appreciate help tonight if at all possible.

TIA

I rented the tool from auto zone when I did mine, I can't believe they won't rent it out to you.
Or maybe they can't?

I would try some other close by auto zones if that's a possibility

I am having this exact same problem right now. bought inner and outer tie rods. went to get the tool at auto zone, oreilly, and Napa and all 3 had the tool, and even the kits but didn't have anything that fit. I got the exact same tie rods: EV420... what did you end up using?

Harbor Freight to the rescue. Go buy a tie rod removal
set from them (quite cheap) and you should be all set. Good luck and let me know how made out.

Little late to the party, but I use this:
Amazon Amazon

...ran into the same problem, the sizes they had at AutoZone did not fit on a client's Lincoln LS (needed 33.6 mm). I'm sure HF has a similar set that's cheaper (the Lisle set is pretty awesome though), sorry don't know the Lexus size off hand.

EDIT: I decided to do my tie rods yesterday ('99 ES300). Size was 32.5mm.

I removed the rack, hammered lock plate back off rod end, used correct spanner.
