Default 1998 ES300 HID Foglights

I experimented with a bunch of different LED/Halogen bulbs for my foglights and none of them met my expectations in terms of light output or looks. So I bought a 35w H3 HID kit with slim ballasts for my foglights. I installed them and after having them on for a couple of minutes to take pictures and stuff I picked up the foglight housing and it was pretty hot.. is this normal? i'm afraid that if I leave it on for a longer period of time it could get too hot and start melting the foglight housing

You have to go to a projector for really good performance. Check out my retro thread:

You really can pick up a nice set of projectors for about 40 bucks. Doing it again I should have just cut some clear lexan to fit instead of getting replacement housings, would have saved 150.

Post what you got when you get it up and running :d

The LED kits like the Opt7 have built in cooling fans and heat sinks.

HID's don't produce heat. LED's actually do, that's why it has a huge heat sink sticking out the back.
