ES300 2000 Brake help
Hello all,
I had trouble with my brakes involving a spongy resistance on the brake pedal.
Turns out that the brake booster was leaking and the master cylinder needed replaced.
I replaced both and bled the brakes but now the tire rims on the front are really hot and the car vibrates at speeds around 50-65 and returns to normal under that.
I tightened the bolt on the rod adjustment (on the booster) and it improved noticeably but my concern is that this car has traction control. I replaced the master cylinder with traction but the brake booster without because it was $200 bucks cheaper. Does this matter?
I'm going to tighten the adjustment more to see if it fixes the problem but I can't lock down an answer anywhere.
I'd think that it just wouldn't offer traction control anymore and that's okay but I've read somewhere that it could squeeze the brakes but that doesn't make sense to me.

Jack up both front wheels and see if they rotate freely. You should not have to adjust anything when replacing the brake booster and master cylinder, I'm wondering if the booster for traction control is different enough to cause your issue meaning the brakes are always somewhat activated.

Thanks, I'll try that. I need to take a look at the brake pads now anyway.
Thing is with the haynes manual and the instructions with the brake booster it mentions taking measurements for the bolt on the front and the nut on the back where the brake pedal connects to it. The nut on the back for the pedal was done correctly but the rod has a tiny bolt on the end that can be tightened or loosened in case it presses on the master cylinder or not enough. Its really difficult to get a grip on the rod to adjust too.

Did you buy a new or remanufactured master cylinder? What brand? The push rod should never need to be adjusted also don't use the Haynes manual get a copy of the factory service manual by doing a Google on Turbo Ninjas Camry.

The brand was Brake Best and it was remanufactured.
Never heard of turbo ninjas. Thanks for the tip.
Now that you mention the MC I remember that the old part didn't have a c clip in it but the remanufactured one does. I wonder if the c clip is pushing in a bit.

You won't want to hear this but never buy a remanufactured master cylinder. Get a new Aisin unit instead.

Yeahhh...I heard about that only after I bought the remanufactured.
So you don't think the brake booster without traction control being installed on a car with traction control (as well as the MC) has any affect to the brakes squeezing?
Past few days the brakes have been squealing so I'm about to see how they look.
