Default Leak, sputtering and Maint'req light

I've had this leak for a while now. I'm not too mechanically knowledgeable and get most of my fixes and information from YouTube and here. I guess I really need to tackle this leak first. I'm thinking it is the valve cover gasket...here are a few pics. What do ya'll think? The car is not leaking oil on the ground, just a few spots here and there. But I get that burnt smell when I turn the car off and get out. Plus, I see the smoke hovering around the front passenger side of the car.

First thing I'd do is go to a car wash and clean the engine as much as possible. THEN look to wee where the oil is leaking from - first guess would be the valve cover gaskets, but you don't want to work on an engine that dirty in the first place!
