Wi-fi OBDC II iPhone or Windows app that will read transmission codes
#5
If you don't already have the OBD device, the easiest/cheapest way to go about this is to get an ELM327 bluetooth device off ebay for about $6 to $10. Any cheap last gen Android phone is fine; I have an old one with Jellybean I use for this (get one off craigslist for cheap). A good freeware is torque lite.
I don't know about windows, but apple refuses to let you use the bluetooth standard that is common with the cheaper units; citing security. Force you to use a more expensive wifi type.

I bought a Bluetooth ELM327 device and then realized that Apple locks it out. I have since bought a WiFi ELM 327 device that works with pretty much anything. So, no iOS apps that read transmission codes? That doesn't cost $100!

Just get a Toyota Techstream cable, its $25 on eBay.
I've got one and its paid off for itself with the amount of settings you can change, program keys, and read all diagnostic codes that the dealer can. The ELM won't be able to access all those settings.

If you already bough the wifi device, you can find free iOS software if you google for it. There are lists and they are in the app store. There is not as large a selection or as generally good quality ones as for Android, but there are some.

I'm using Auto Doctor and EngineLink on iOS. Not sure if they pull transmission codes or not. I'll have to contact the developers. Thanx for all the info.

I'm using Dash Command for my iOS WiFi odb reader, works well to read/reset codes.
I was using Torque for Android before that - but the app did not work with one Android device I tried, an LG, despite troubleshooting, and worked fine with an HTC phone. Both were 4.0+.

Can Torque read oxygen sensor values and graph them? I've got a P0420 on a 2004 Honda Accord that I'm trying to diagnose (for a bad cat or O2 sensor). Tried my techstream cable with Honda's HDS software but its very glitchy and won't let me pull live data.
