Thumping while accelerating and veering right
For the past two months, I have noticed a rhythmic thumping noise from the front driver side of the car only while accelerating and veering a bit to the right. If I go straight, veer left, or turn (more than a veer) right, then the thumping stops. There is no thumping while I break. If I hear thumping while veering right and I stop accelerating, the noise goes away immediately.
I took it to a shop, and they said that I needed a new lower control arm and ball joint on the front driver side. I did that repair ($388), but I still hear the thump. I had a new half axle installed at that same location about 6 months ago, but there was no thumping immediately after that job. I also had that bearing changed a few years ago. I replaced the right front lower control arm and tie rod a few years ago. I am not sure what to have checked at this point. I am worried that the current situation might be dangerous. I am going on a long trip next week and want to be safe. Any suggestions? |
Perhaps you have a bad strut or strut mount it could also be the rod ends for the sway bar
