Default 98 Lexus ES starting problem

Hey fellas I have a 98 Es and I have a weird starting issue. The car will start and run perfect until I shut it off and then the car will shutter and turn off unless I give it gas consistently for about a minute. I am not sure where to start. It also doesn't matter if I let the car run for a long time and shut it off or shut it off immediately.

Could possibly be stuck fuel injectors. Try some fuel injector cleaner to see if that problem goes away.

is the starter dis-engaging ? sometimes they can run on, and stick in place. >- unlikely.

it could be stuck fuel injectors, it might be that they have glue like deposits in them, and need to be cleaned professionally.

It would also be worthwhile trying to pull any codes from the ecu.

I will try the injector cleaner and see if that helps. Ill pull the codes as well and see what they say.

Start by cleaning the throttle body, EGR valve and idle air control valve.

Default Starting problem

I pulled the idle air and wiped it off and the TPS and it seems to be running better at the moment. I will still clean the idle air just in case. Thanks

We have a winner.

Lexus Master Tech here, and this is exactly where I would start.
