98 es300 ohms for rear abs sensor
I seem to have gotten over my head here. I replaced rear struts, now i have the abs light flashing with the"track off" flashing as well. the haynes repair manual stated the flashing code is right rear, however I took ohm reading after disconnecting the plug under the rear seat and it never gives me the same numbers, it seems it always a little higher. Ive read in the forum that the ohm should be at 1.6 to 1.7, however i dont know at which ohm setting. I set mine at 20K and it started at 2.12and every other attempt gave me a slightly higher reading. Any help will be appreciated.

I tested an ABS sensor not too long about at it was about 1500 ohms. Not sure what you mean when you say, "never gives me the same number".

What it mean is if the sensor is supposed to read 1.6-1.7 ohms, that is a constant number. I should get that range every time. If the escalating of the ohms were to identify an open circuit. What does an open circuit mean & how do I resolve it ? Lexus 2000 have u ever removed a rear abs sensor?

Are you sure that resistance is correct? Was the test meter on the lowest ohm setting? If true then you have a short in the circuit. I have replaced them sometimes it is easy other times the sensor is rusted into the hub.

rear abs removal
How did you remove the sensor? is there access to the tip of the sensor where it picks up the magnetic reading from the tone ring to hammer it our? Or can you tell me specifically the best way to remove it?

Remove the wheel then one bolt holds the sensor on. The sensor may be rusted in place so it will break when removing and you'll have to dig the remaining pieces out. Here's a video that shows the basic procedure there are a couple of pics that show where the sensor is.

Here's how to change the front ABS sensor. The rear is similar, although the access plug might be in a different location than inside the splash guard. Just follow the wiring up the strut.

thanks for your reply. my question is to pull out the old rusted rear sensor, it is a matter of just rotating back and forth and pulling on it or is it hammer and chisel? i broke my 10mm bolt and now have to drill it out and tap it. my quandary is how much work is to get out the rusted piece, guess its fear of the unknown
