Switch to in-dash Nav 03 ES

Hi all,

I have an 03 ES without navigation. I was interested in buying the factory navigation on eBay (including the actual head unit since the Nav won't fit in my existing one). My question is: would the navigation work after I hook it up? I know on newer cars they have the shark fin antenna for the satellite. I don't want to buy a navigation if my car doesn't have an antenna, unless of course the navigation has a built one. Thanks in advance

I believe the antenna is behind the dash somewhere, not built-in. Does your harness support the unit?

I have to question why you want to do this. Google Maps on your phone is soooo much better. I haven't used the nav in my '05 in years. The interface is terrible, and the maps are too expensive to update.

Built in Nav will enhance the value of you Lex. A phone with Google Maps won't.

I would have to agree with KLF, smart phones do a vastly better job nowadays. I specifically looked for a non-nav model when buying a used ES, and am doing the same with a used LS430 purchase.

I agree, navigation systems become quickly out-dated when looking at used cars and is just one more thing that can be an expensive failure. Give me my big old buttons and radio and keep your touch screen :) .

I disagree. I won't buy a car/truck with factory nav again. I am looking for a 4Runner or a GX, won't even consider one with nav installed, unless it's an aftermarket system that I can remove.

Better move would be to get a Bluetooth adapter (GROM or otherwise), so your phone will talk directly to you over the speakers for both media and navigation.
