2006 ES330 heat fan question
Hi everyone, I'm new here, and a new owner of my first Lexus.
I purchased a 1 owner 2006 ES330 from the local Lexus dealer with 104000 km (~65000 miles). I brought the car home 2 days ago. It looks pretty mint.
I have a question that hopefully you guys can confirm - to ensure the sales guy isn't yanking my chain.
When cold (-20 c) and I start the car, the heater fan doesn't come on at all when in the "auto" setting. If I put it to defrost, then the fan comes on, if I put it back to "auto" it goes off. Once warmed up it seems to work fine, however never really blows hot just warm, even with AC off.
Sales guy says all Lexus work that way (regarding the auto setting and fan not running when cold). I don't see anything about this in the owners manual.
Regarding the warm vs hot air, I have read on here some models may have issues with HVAC servos or blocked heater cores... so I'll keep close eye on that.
Can you guys confirm the auto setting when cold - do your fans blow before car is warmed up?
Thanks!
Kent

it is designed that way. if you want to blow cold air, override the auto setting, and turn the fan up. you can do a drain and fill on the coolant or have the dealer change it in a car that old. you don't have any serious problems.
