slightly rough idle at red light stops
I recently had both anti knock sensors replaced. a day or so before the es 300 would idle rough at stops. when i took the car in the mechanic said he had removed vtti sensor and cleaned it. on the way home same idle after a long drive home. trac off check engine light came back on. i called the mechanic and asked where the sensor is and it took a while to locate but i think I did. I started to remove the part but it was not coming out easy. I disconnected it, also the pos on battery, reconnected part , tightened it, reconnected positive pole and drove it yesterday and today. so far the light has not come back but i still feel a slight rough idle on stops and hesitation on accelaration from stop. any ideas what sensor is causing this? last time autozone readout said valve timing. the vtti sensor also senses oil pressure. any help would be appreciated. thank you.

I would really doubt it has anything to do with the VVTI sensor. That sensor does read oil pressure and decide how aggressively to engage variable valve timing. Under normal driving conditions (not accelerating very hard) there would not be much variable valve timing commanded from the engine. I really doubt this is going to give you any problems with idle. It could however be giving you the hesitation on acceleration. I'd try pulling out the MAF sensor and give it a good cleaning.
