1992 ES330 Security reset
I'm fairly new to CLx, and tried searching as per title of thread, above. Don't know if I searched properly as I didn't get any hits.
I am looking for the procedure to reset the remote key security for a 1992 ES330. I have two keys with the built-in remote lock/unlock button, plus a valet key, plus two other keys that don't have remotes on them. All worked prior to having a head gasket replacement.
I have gotten numerous answers from backseat "mechanic"s that have not worked (everything from "cycle key 6 times" to "short out the starter circuit". Did not want to try the latter). I am 4.5 hours from the nearest Lexus dealer, and the ES330 won't run. I called them, but they won't do anything over the phone but want to see the vehicle in their shop.
Does anyone know (or can link me to) the actual procedure for resetting the security on this vehicle? I looked through my owners documents and could not find anything.
According to the person who did the work on the head gaskets, the security light on the radio lights, but says this is a separate code that should not affect the operation of the vehicle. The vehicle security indicator does not seem to light.

My error. This thread pertains to a Lexus ES300. Please sub in "ES300" for everyplace I used "ES330".
Still looking for any answer on remote key reset procedure for 1992 ES300.
To answer PFB, the car will start, run for a second or two, then cut out. My mechanic has tried the battery disconnect, but it continues to do the same thing.
I have received lot's of contradictory advice so far. The latest is that it has to do with a security reset. Not sure if this is the problem, but would like to try it but cannot find the procedure.
Since I have received so many guesses and contradictory advice, I would prefer someone answering that has had some experience or knowledge about it. As I stated previously, I could still tow it 4.5 hours to a Lexus dealer, but was hoping this forum could link me to someone who knew something about older models of the ES300 security systems.

I have an ES 330 and with a key programmer you can reset the ECU which contains the security circuitry. I assume it works the same for yours. There are procedures for adding and deleting keys and one for programming the remote fob but as far as I know it takes a programmer to reset the ECU.
