Explanation : Es300('99) Vs. Gs300('01)
Before we get started, I firstly do not condone racing of any kind as it is dangerous.
The other day my friend purchased a 2001 GS300. His model has a 2JZ-GE with VVT-I. The other day we were driving on the same road on the way home from a basketball game and we met up at the lights. We said we would only sprint to the speed limit sign which was 100 km/h (60mph) about 500 meters down the road ( 0.3 miles ) The 2JZ has a considerable advantage over my 1MZ. I thought I stood little to no chance but it turns out that my es300 was actually faster. I have not yet been able to conceive the idea of how I had won. Both cars are stock ( with the exception of a muffle on my car ) and both cars were running 98 octane fuel. Is there anyone that could shed some light on any reason why I would have maybe had faster acceleration/speed. I thought the GS300 with VVT-i would have taken it easy given it has more HP... Thanks ! |
It's all about power to weight ratio. Read this http://streetspecs.com/compare/28657...18_35891_53845

Having owned both, the gs300 is definitely quicker, but not by nearly as much as you think. The GS weighs a ton.
