Default --Nosies behind the cluster--

for ever i've had a random electric reset type of sound that comes and goes, never bothered me but recently it's turned into rocks in a washing machine type of sound/clawing behind the dash cluster...anyone have had anything similar or know what it can be?

Also i hear a flow of water upon a cold start behind the dash as well...i heard it mainly during the winter when it was cold and randomly these days...

it's a 97 es300 btw

Is it a fast paced clicking . . . .as if something is stuck in the cassette player or dvd player . . . .even though nothing is in there ? I have this issue but havien't figured it out just yet. Let me know what you find.

Did you open the hood to see if the nose is coming from that area instead of behind the dash panel?

Also, does it come on only when the engine is running, or will it come on if you turn the ignition on but not turn the engine on?

The noises isn't constant so I'd have to have someone else helping me pin point it. I haven't tested it with the engine off.

You should really try and determine the general source of the clicking first. It most likely is coming from the engine bay area, (probably a relay), and NOT from behind the dash.

So when it comes on, opening the hood and listening in the engine bay area is mandatory. With patience you'll find the source.

Also, Next time it happends, turn your climate control off. See if that makes a difference.

I have a rattling/rustling sound under my glovebox when the A/C is on. I don't really know why, but I'm in no mood to go digging through the dash to find out right now.

The water sound when you first start up is coolant running through the hoses. You're just a little low. Top it off and that sound will go away.

I have the same weird, rustling noise from behind my passenger airbag area on my 02 SC430. Sounds like a rustle, clicking, something moving behind the a/c cluster/passenger airbag area.
