Should I or Shouldnt I
Hey Club Lexus, Im a current owner of a rusted out integra , looking to buy a 3rd gen ES300. Been looking at a few ES300 the past few days and a 1999 model appeals to me.
Here is the ad on Kijiji:
http://www.kijiji.ca/v-cars-trucks/m...ationFlag=true
It seems mechanically and electronically sound except for the clunking noise in the back, which are probably worn out bushings (i did my research lol)
The engine is not 100% quiet... maybe around 90%... is that normal?
And is there anything I should look out & be aware of before i buy it?

The price is good, However....... If you are concerned about the engine noise take it to a mechanic and have it checked out PRIOR to purchase. These cars are easy to work on with plenty of "affordable" parts available.
Things to be concerned about: When was the timing belt changed? Does the AC work? Who did the maintenance on it? Any crash damage?
Things to check: Color of antifreeze, smell and check the color of the trans fluid, radio display, soiled carpets from floods or leaks, tires, brakes, etc.
BTW! Check the trunk to make sure the clunking noise is not a dead body.

Hey,
Have a look over this (my) thread on my car's first service after purchase.
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/es3...r-service.html
There is a sludge issue with the v6 engine, which seems to be a common theme for engines in general that haven't been serviced.
The v6 engine has a cam belt, which has to be changed periodically. look for an indication that has been done, or not. Look for oil leaks low down on the passengers side of the engine, below the alternator. That might indicate that there is a leak from under the cam cover. (oil seals).
All engines make noise, it's hard to define that acceptable is or not. Unless your standing next to it.
