3ES Radio LCD Compatability

Does anyone know if the LCD display itself from a 2000-2001 radio will work in a 1997-1999 radio? I see plenty of 00-01 radios for not that much money on e-bay, and it seems like those LCD's are less prone to problems.
I'd like to buy one of the 00-01 radios, remove the LCD, and install it in my 1997 radio. Does anyone know if it will fit? I know the radio itself is not compatible, but the LCD looks like it might swap over.

No, it will not fit....... The 97 radio is a Pioneer and the replacement display is $115 and it is out of stock at this time.
This display problem is common on the Pioneer radios and I find it hard to spend this amount of money on a 17 year old radio.

Yeah, I'm not spending $115 on a replacement. I bought the car for my 20 year old sister, and her only complaint so far is the non-functioning radio display.

I looked at some 2001 radios on eBay, and the non-Nakamichi units are made by Pioneer as well. Are you sure the LCD's aren't interchangable?
