What battery for 1992 Key fob??
The previous owner of my car gave me the key/remote (key is the remote, not a seperate remote) for the car without a battery, and I've not been able to find anywhere what size battery I need....
Can someone with a 1992/93 vintage ES300 tell me what sort of battery I need to get???
The JDM Windoms came with a single side located button for the keyless entry... No factory security system or anything like that to contend with...
Where does one obtain replacement key transponders for 92 model cars??? is the stealership the only option??

Maybe the owners manual says? I didn't know that year came with the remote integrated into the key. Does it look like this?

The owners manual mentions many things but the battery for the key is not one of them..... The previous owner lost the rubber button & screw for my key so I purchased the one in the listing below but it's the shell only...
Yes the head of the key (remote part) looks just like that same button in the same place - of course mine has a Toyota logo...
Attached is a pretty crappy scan of my key... You can't see the button, but like I said same layout as the one you linked

These remotes often use battery CR1216 or CR2016 but not sure if that applies to the integrated key versions.
edit - a bit of searching here turned up this

Take the key to your Lexus dealer and purchase a battery from them. If they charge a few extra bucks for the battery, it should be worth the worry you're going thru now.

I was at the Toyota / Lexus dealer on Friday morning, the best he offered was to organise a new key / transponder and to have it programmed for me... He didn't give me a cost (must be real expensive, lol), he said he'd get me a price and give it to me when he calls me on Monday about something else...
He couldn't even tell me what sort of battery I need for it..... He just showed me some new looking remote thing and told me that is what most cars have, they never see keys like mine!
So either people with 20 year old Toyota / Lexus cars don't go to the stealership for much if anything, or the kid hasn't worked there long, and hasn't woken up to the fact they actually sold these cars once upon a time! Well not quite true as mine is a Jap import but still I'm sure most 1992 Toyota / Lexus models had similar key / transponders..

Did you go to the parts department or did you talk to someone at the service department? Parts department should be able to give you the battery type and offer to sell it to you (if they still stock them). It sounds like you were dealing with an ASM rather than anyone who would have been helpful for finding out what battery your key needs.
Regardless, it sounds like someone gave you the battery type, might as well give that a shot.

Yeah I'll try the battery mentioned above.....
The guy I talked to was the guy manning the parts counter on a Saturday morning.....
He looked like he'd never seen a key from an early 90's model, and gave me the impression people with early 90's models don't bother him often...
